Every Great artist lives a colorful life

Let me share my life's artistic passion with you... a palette so ful l of color, life, and beauty.

Tia's Artist Story

Tia was born and raised in the artistic community of Marin County, California amidst a creative family.

Tia’s grandmother, Bammy was an artist & teacher who nurtured Tia’s artistic development from a very young age, while also serving as one of her high school art instructors.

Later, Tia focused on painting, printmaking, drawing, and ceramics while earning a BFA in painting from the prestigious San Francisco Art Institute.

Tia chose to follow in Bammy’s footsteps by pursuing a degree in teaching the arts at Sonoma State University, where she also gained a Secondary Teaching Credential in Visual Art.

Tia spent the next twenty years as a teacher of the Visual Arts at San Rafael High School, where she also created an advanced placement course for her highest level of students to build sophisticated portfolios, show as professional artists, achieve college credit, and apply to top Art Institutes.

While at San Raphael High School, Tia became a master teacher to several student teachers, a specialist in curriculum development, as well as instructing the teach-in-content course for the Dominican University credential program.

Bammy & Tia were able to travel extensively together since Tia kept expanding her skills with Art History courses with the UC Berkley extension in Paris, Rome, and Sicily.  Bammy & Tia also enjoyed visiting art museums, art schools, and cultural arts in Kenya, Bali, Thailand, Northern & Southern Italy, Spain & Ibiza, and northern France.

After retiring from teaching and moving to Kona, Hawaii in 2013, Tia has found herself exploring her constant passion for culture and arts education in a new way.

Founding her own business, “Tia Starr Studios” has allowed Tia to share her expertise in art with her new Community, while appreciating the nature and culture Hawaii provides.

Tia is a gifted artist who shares her passion for education and provides fun and educational artistic experiences for her clients.

Please take the time to meet Tia Starr at her art events where you can witness for yourself the passion, talent, and expertise that she provides.
